Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my GPU from a 3070 to a 5080 and I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my power supply as well. I bought my PC in 2020 and it has a 650W PSU. When I checked PC Part Picker, it mentioned that the new GPU would pull around 587W. Should I upgrade my PSU or will my current one be sufficient?

Nvidia actually recommends a minimum PSU of 850W for that GPU, so it's definitely safer to upgrade to avoid any power issues.

Yes, it's a good idea to upgrade your power supply. A high-quality 850W unit is recommended for better stability and future-proofing. You can find one for about $100, which is a solid investment to ensure your new GPU runs smoothly without issues. Could you check out my current build? What do you think would be the best changes? [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/63Dj3w](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/63Dj3w)?

Also, what would be a good future-proof PSU? I'm planning to upgrade my CPU to AM5 and will need a compatible motherboard, RAM, cooler, and so forth.
