Hey folks! I'm in the process of upgrading my old PC, which has an RTX 2070 and a Ryzen 2700X. I use both a 4K and a 1440p monitor primarily for gaming. My budget is around €4,500, but I'm open to spending a bit more if necessary.
I've selected some parts already, including a rather pricey motherboard at €500, but I'm unsure if that's overkill since I don't plan on overclocking. I'd appreciate suggestions for a more reasonably priced motherboard without all the extra features.
As for the PSU, I've heard that 1000W might be a bit on the low side for an RTX 5090 and that I should consider going for a 1200W model. Would this be a better choice, especially for future-proofing against power spikes? Any advice on the rest of the components would also be great!

I’d recommend going for the 1200W PSU. While 1000W might work, it's better to have extra headroom, especially with a power-hungry card like the 5090. It prevents running into issues during intense gaming sessions.
Thanks for that! Do you think I should get a gold-rated PSU for better efficiency?
With a build featuring the 9800X3D, 1000W is generally sufficient for the RTX 5090 setup. You probably won’t be pulling over 600W in typical usage, so it should handle it just fine.
Yeah, I also think it’s worth the extra cost for the peace of mind! Just makes it easier for future upgrades without having to change the PSU again.
