I just finished building my PC and it's all working fine, but I realized I forgot to install the IO shield. I'm wondering if I have to unplug everything to get it back in place, or is there a simpler way, like just moving the motherboard slightly by removing the GPU but leaving the other cables connected?

Most people say it’s okay to leave it out, but the shield helps with grounding and can block some electromagnetic interference. It’s generally a good idea to install it if you can.
Honestly, you could just leave it the way it is. It won't cause major issues immediately, but having the shield can protect you from potential interference.
If you can, try to get a motherboard that has the IO shield pre-installed. It's becoming pretty standard now, and it saves you some hassle. But yeah, you really do want the shield for grounding and protection.
Unfortunately, you'll have to take the motherboard out to install the IO shield properly. If you're not too bothered about the shield, you could just leave it out, but it might lead to some interference, especially with audio.
