I just picked up a Samsung 990 Pro SSD with a production date marked as "2025 04 24." I remember there were some firmware issues with earlier versions that caused failures, but those have reportedly been fixed with updates over time. My question is, do new production units like mine come pre-installed with the latest firmware, or would I need to update it once I install it? Since I bought it for my PS5 and my PC is at a different location right now, I can't check it out myself. Has anyone recently bought a Samsung 990 Pro and found out what firmware version it came with? Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

You should be good to go! Recent reports say that no issues have popped up with the latest batches, so chances are your SSD will be fine out of the box.
Most recent production units are likely to have the updated firmware already. It sounds like they resolved past issues with the earlier releases.
I suggest using Samsung Magician to find out if any updates are needed! But since your PC is at another place, do you have the option to check with someone else? A lot of users have said newer models are updating well to the latest firmware.
