Do Wireless 2.4G Dongle Mice and Keyboards Work Well on Linux?

I'm thinking about switching to Linux Mint and just wanted to know if I can reasonably expect my wireless mouse and keyboard, which use 2.4G dongles, to work right away without any issues. I don't expect the software for adjusting DPI or lighting effects to function, since I know that's usually not supported on Linux. I'm mainly interested in whether I can just plug them in and have them work out of the box.

Mice and keyboards typically operate independently of the OS for wireless communication. You should be good to go!

Yes, they should work just fine!

I recently got a Redragon wireless set, and it worked perfectly with the 2.4G dongle. My motherboard doesn't have Bluetooth, so I couldn't test that, but the keyboard's light patterns were fine. There doesn't seem to be a driver for the mouse, but it still runs its RGB pattern normally.

I can confirm that my wireless devices worked essentially without a hitch. The specific brand or model might make a difference, but most should just work fine. If you're uncertain, you could try booting from a live ISO to see if it recognizes your devices.

From my experience, everything that uses a dongle has been solid on Linux Mint or Ubuntu. I haven't faced any issues at all with various devices. If you're running a different desktop environment like KDE, you could even configure extra mouse buttons right out of the box!
