Hey everyone! I'm putting together a new workstation and I've got some questions about RAM compatibility with AMD systems. I recently ordered Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM (96GB, 2x48GB) that's rated for 6600MHz CL32 and is labeled as Intel XMP 3.0 memory. My build will feature the MSI MAG Tomahawk x870E motherboard and the upcoming R9 9950X3D2 CPU. I was under the impression that XMP was just an add-on feature, not a strict compatibility issue. But I've heard mixed reports on whether XMP RAM can work on AMD systems—some users say it's fine while others have had problems like black screens or crashing. Is the MSI MAG Tomahawk x870E known to handle XMP RAM well? Should I be looking into a different motherboard that handles memory profiles better? I'd love to hear any advice or experiences you have! Thanks!

From what I've seen, many users successfully load the XMP profiles on AMD motherboards, but with RAM speeds beyond 6000MHz, you may face stability issues. If anything, you might have to dial it back a bit to ensure everything runs smoothly. But hey, for casual workloads, you might not even notice the difference!
Your RAM should work fine, but just because it claims to support Intel, doesn't guarantee a smooth experience. You might need to manually configure some settings in the BIOS to get it running at top speed, especially since your timing may require some tweaking. I’d say give it a shot!
Most RAM tends to be compatible regardless of the XMP/EXPO labeling. But if you run into trouble, you might just see a slight drop in performance rather than total failure. Setting it manually can be an option if needed, but fingers crossed you won't have to!

That makes sense! I'd prefer to avoid headaches and ensure stability first. So adjusting to 6000MHz is a reasonable path if I have to? Thanks!
