Does Keeping GPU Fans Running Constantly Affect Their Lifespan?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using a custom fan curve on my RX 9070 XT which means the fans are always running, as I don't have a Zero RPM option. I'm curious if this constant operation might reduce the fans' lifespan or impact performance over time. Would it be better for the fans to stop and start, or is keeping them running continuously a safer choice for their longevity? Just trying to make sure I'm taking care of my setup for the long haul. Thanks!

It's hard to say if constant running or on-off cycles wear them out faster, but some argue that steady airflow might actually help the components last longer overall.

I say leaving the fans running is probably better than them constantly starting and stopping. It might help maintain better airflow and could keep the GPU components cooler in the long run.

Don’t stress too much about it! Zero RPM is really beneficial when the GPU isn't under heavy load, like when just browsing or watching videos. Worst-case scenario, if a fan does fail after a long time, you can always replace it or even use case fans as a workaround.

From what I've read, keeping your fans running continuously likely won't hurt them much in the long run. I've had a 1050Ti from 2017 that always spins, and it still works perfectly fine, though it might be a bit louder. I think the Zero RPM feature could actually extend fan life during light usage by keeping them stationary when not needed. But overall, constant operation should be fine if that's your choice.
