I lost my iPhone recently and didn't activate Lost Mode. I reset my Apple ID password to regain access to my data on another device, which removed my lost phone from being a trusted number. Nope, the passcode hasn’t been removed. Just taking the phone off your account doesn’t make it usable for anyone else. If a finder gets your phone, they might try to reset it, but they won’t be able to access any of your data because it’s all encrypted. It’s best to keep the Activation Lock active so that it can't be easily used by someone else.
It's unlikely that your phone is fully untied from your Apple ID. The data is still on the device, and Activation Lock is probably still in place.
