Does Upgrading from One 1440p Monitor to Another Make a Noticeable Difference?

I'm contemplating switching from my Acer Nitro VG1 VG271U, which is a 27" WQHD monitor, to the Asus ROG Strix XG27ACS, also a 27" WQHD, because it's on sale until tomorrow. I have a feeling that the panel quality of the Acer isn't up to par with the Asus. Are these monitors essentially the same, or will I really notice a difference? I'm trying to decide if this purchase is worth it since I can't afford an OLED monitor.

I think Rtings.com is a goldmine for comparing monitors! They might have reviews for both models you're looking at. Just check their gaming scores and features that matter to you personally. The overall score doesn't tell the whole story, but the office score is useful if you plan on using it for reading a lot.

Honestly, just swing by a store and see them side by side if you can. It's way more reliable than sifting through online stats and specs. You'll get a real feel for it that way.

Yeah, sometimes it's tough to go to a store, but if you can, it's definitely the way to go!

While I’m not a total expert, I can point out some differences like the color space coverage, with the Asus offering 97% DCI-P3 versus 95% on the Acer. The Asus also has some nice features like G-Sync and HDR400, which could be appealing depending on your gaming habits. Technically, the Asus is better, but honestly, I doubt you'd see a huge difference in everyday use. If you were to spend that cash, there might be better ways to invest your money instead.

I had a similar question! For gaming, the most critical factor is often that sRGB coverage; if your current monitor is at 100% sRGB, the difference may not be noticeable unless you play HDR content. Just remember, if you want to truly experience HDR, you’ll need a high-end panel like a Mini LED or OLED with proper certification. So, with your current monitor's specs, you might not see much change unless you utilize the full capabilities of the new one. Let me know if you have further questions!
