I'm thinking about upgrading my wifi because I'm only getting 2.2 Mbps in my room compared to 812 Mbps in the living room. If I decide to upgrade to a 2.5 or 10 gigabit plan, will my speed in my room increase proportionally? For example, can I expect speeds to jump from 800 to 8000 Mbps in the living room and from 2.2 to 22 Mbps in my room?

Simple answer: No. The wifi speed decreases with distance, particularly if there are walls or other obstacles. Better routers may help, so consider one with updated drivers or features that enhance wifi range.
If running a long cable isn't an option for you, investing in a mesh wifi system could be your best bet. It really helps improve speeds throughout your home.
Have you considered using a really long ethernet cable? That's what I use in my room and it works great.
Not exactly how that works! Upgrading your plan will give you a higher maximum speed, but it doesn't mean your speeds will increase proportionally, especially with distance involved.

Yeah, I agree! Trying to improve speeds over distance without proper equipment can be frustrating.
