Hey everyone! I'm facing a strange issue with my Ethernet after I tried installing Wireguard yesterday. While the installation caused a lot of network problems, I decided to uninstall it. Now, my internet seems to only work when I plug the Ethernet cable into the 10G LAN port. I've used the 2.5G port successfully for over a year, but it just won't connect anymore. On the bright side, my Synology NAS is functioning perfectly on both ports, so I know the ports themselves aren't broken. Just so you know, I'm using an Asus Proart Z790 motherboard with Windows 11. I'd really appreciate any advice or ideas on what's going wrong!

Make sure to check your internet connection settings; your 2.5G port could be disabled. If it doesn’t appear at all, try uninstalling and reinstalling your network drivers. If it’s enabled but still not working, it might be a sign that the Network Interface Controller (NIC) has gone bad, which would mean that port is no longer usable. On the plus side, using the 10G port isn’t a bad alternative as long as it’s functioning properly!
Keep us updated on what you find! It’s unusual that the 2.5G port isn’t working while the Synology operates on both. If you’re still troubleshooting after updating your BIOS, checking the switch in your basement might be the next step!
Running both ports simultaneously isn't a problem, but it’s good to verify the switch and any settings there. Sometimes switches can cause unusual behavior with certain devices, so checking that could lead to some answers.
It sounds like your Ethernet settings might need adjusting. Check if the 2.5G port is set to automatic. Sometimes, it can get stuck on a higher speed, and that would prevent it from connecting properly.

Thanks for your input! Where exactly can I find those settings?
