Experiences with Magic Wormhole for File Transfers

I'm looking for insights on using Magic Wormhole to transfer files between endpoints, specifically in a scenario where we have to move files for vendor installations and logs. Ideally, it should work in a Windows-focused environment without using SMB or SSH, which can be tricky given our security policies. I've seen some GUI wrappers for Magic Wormhole, but I want to hear from others who have actually used it. What has your experience been with this tool?

HTTP(S) start to finish can be your best bet. For transfers, consider an HTTP pull or push setup; a web browser can be an all-in-one solution for uploads and downloads without needing to mess with other protocols.

What about using OneDrive? It could be an easy sharing option if your environment allows it!

That's a no-go for us. OneDrive isn’t accessible from our secured environments, and let’s be real, the Linux version is pretty much unusable.

I haven’t personally tried Magic Wormhole but I’d suggest not dismissing SCP and SSH. They've been around in Windows for quite some time now. You might find them more useful than you think!

I hear you on the SSH concern, but Magic Wormhole really shines by providing a simplified relayed transfer. It only keeps files on the relay long enough to get them from person A to B with a user-friendly keyphrase. Given your security team’s concerns, this could be a safer option for those kinds of transfers.
