I'm struggling to get my RTX 5070 to work reliably. After trying to build two separate systems with different motherboards and two RTX 5070 cards, I'm facing constant issues. I get the VGA error light on the motherboard, or sometimes the system fails to POST entirely. Occasionally, it boots up, but crashes or freezes whenever I open an app or update drivers. I've updated the BIOS on both motherboards and tried various settings. My old 3060Ti works without any problems, so it seems limited to these new components. I'd love to know if anyone has managed to get an RTX 5070 running well, especially with PCIE 5. If all else fails, I'm considering switching to an AMD card, but I'm unsure about which model would be equivalent. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, if you're still troubleshooting after all that, it might be worth considering switching to a different GPU altogether, like a 9070. They seem to have fewer issues and are readily available. Plus, if your old setup runs fine, it could mean the RTX 5070 just isn't playing nice with your hardware. It's definitely frustrating, but sometimes you just have to cut your losses and move on.
Interestingly, my PNY RTX 5070 is working without issues on an MSI B650-P Pro WiFi, and it’s even using Gen 5. Not that it’s advertised for that, but it just might be luck! I'd recommend continuing to isolate your components and perhaps forcing the PCIE settings in the BIOS to Gen 4 or 3 while you troubleshoot. If that fails, switching to another GPU might be your safest bet.
I had problems similar to yours, and it turned out the power cable from the retail box was faulty. Just make sure you’re using the correct 12V 16-pin cable and remember that sometimes even new parts can let you down. If you haven’t already, trying a different power supply could help as well!
I did try two different PSUs and cables, but nothing has worked so far. It's just been one thing after another!

I hear you, but part of me wants to solve this puzzle! It's tough to give up on a new build and just settle, you know?
