Experiencing Choppy Motion on My New PC Build – Any Tips?

Hey everyone, I'm having some serious issues with my new PC build. I recently put together a system with a 9800X3D and a 5080 graphics card, and I'm noticing that all motion—whether on the desktop or in games—is choppy and unsmooth. I've got a Logitech G502X Lightspeed mouse, and here's a brief rundown of what's going on:

- When I drag scroll bars, pan the camera in games, or click and drag on a map, the motion just doesn't feel smooth. It looks almost like G-Sync isn't functioning correctly since I'm not experiencing actual lag or stuttering, but the motion looks uneven.
- I've captured some examples you can check out on YouTube to see what I mean about the choppiness and the horizontal/vertical lines that appear.
- This choppiness is particularly noticeable with mouse input; using a controller seems to alleviate the issue.

I've spent weeks troubleshooting and have already tried a bunch of fixes:
- Updated BIOS and firmware.
- Adjusted FPS caps, G-Sync/V-Sync settings.
- Disabled overlays from various applications.
- Tested multiple mice and set up the G-Sync properly.
- Reinstalled Windows 11.
- Switched USB settings, removed RAM overclocks, and tested different monitors.
- Also toggled Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling.

Does anyone have any additional suggestions or ideas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like it could be an issue with the Desktop Windows Manager. Try running an older game that can use exclusive fullscreen mode, as it might run smoother. Also, consider disabling Game Mode if you haven't already. Sometimes it's all about finding that little tweak that solves everything!

Check out this recent thread about similar choppiness issues. It might have some solutions that could work for you. It seems like others have been troubleshooting the same problem recently, so it could be beneficial to give it a look!

I appreciate the link! It seems like their issue is actual lag, where mine is more of just choppiness without freezing. I’ll still check it out though!

Have you tried disabling the Wi-Fi device in the Device Manager? Even if you're using Ethernet, some motherboards have issues with certain Wi-Fi devices that can interfere with USB input. It's worth a shot! And double-check your CPU temperatures too—sometimes AIO coolers can cause thermal throttling on these CPUs, leading to weird performance issues.

I’m on Ethernet and already disabled Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the BIOS, so that shouldn't be the issue. Temps have been good, but thanks for the suggestion!

After I did a clean install of Windows 11, I dealt with skipping on my desktop until I used a tool to debloat it. Maybe try something similar—there are a few tools out there that can help, and who knows, that might just solve the issue!

I had a similar experience! I turned off VRR in both Windows settings and on my GPU/monitor. It helped a lot, though there were still some fluctuations that cleared up after a bit of play. Maybe try toggling V-Sync or frame caps in your games again—sometimes that can reset things and make it smoother!
