Experiencing Freezes and Artifacts with My New RTX 5070 Ti Build, Any Fixes?

I've just built a brand new PC with a Ryzen 7 9700X and an RTX 5070 Ti, but I'm running into constant freezes and visual artifacts when loading new locations in games. To give a bit more detail, I have a GIGABYTE B850 GAMING X WIFI6E motherboard, 32GB of ADATA XPG Lancer RAM, and a MONTECH TITAN GOLD 850W PSU. My setup seemed fine initially, especially during 50 hours of playing Divinity Original Sin 2 without any issues. However, the problem started appearing shortly after, also happening in other games like Control, where RTX support causes extreme stuttering and crashes. Strangely, my old RTX 3060 Ti runs perfectly without any issues. I've tried various troubleshooting steps, including BIOS updates and driver reinstalls, but nothing seems to help. I'm really at a loss here and considering a trip to a service center. Has anyone faced similar issues? Any suggestions?

Honestly, I’d just return the 5070 Ti if you can. Seems like a lot of people are having trouble with it. I wish I could, but I bought mine already and now I’m stuck with it. Ugh!

I can’t return it either—such a frustrating situation!

I had freezing issues with my 50-series GPU too! I turned off G-Sync and everything started running smoothly. Maybe give that a try if you haven't already.

I turned off G-Sync, but it didn't help unfortunately.

From your description, the symptoms lean towards either the GPU being faulty or some kind of compatibility with your components. Have you tried putting the 5070 in another computer? That would help determine if it’s a GPU issue or something with the rest of your setup. It pulls more power than the 3060, so it could be that your PSU isn’t handling it well. But you have a good wattage, so this is tricky.

Check out this thread on Reddit discussing freezes and stuttering with the 5070 series. There might be some useful tips in there regarding BIOS updates and settings that could help. Here’s the link: [Reddit Link]. Sometimes old BIOS settings can linger after updates, so a complete reset might be needed.

I looked at that thread, and I remembered I had set the CURV optimizer to -30. After some issues, I reset everything to factory settings. Maybe there's still some residue? I should delve deeper into that.

First off, it sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting! Have you tried using DDU to fully remove old drivers before reinstalling the latest Nvidia drivers? Sometimes the clean install option doesn’t catch everything. Also, in your BIOS settings, make sure to set PCIe to 3.0 or 4.0 instead of leaving it on auto. If you’re using any PCIe risers or aftermarket cables, try removing those and connecting directly to the motherboard and PSU. That might help with stability.

I’ll give that a shot! I’ve been wanting to try DDU anyway.

You might want to test your RAM by running one stick at stock frequency just to see if one of them is causing issues. I know it runs fine with the 3060, but it might be worth checking. Other people have reported weird behaviors related to different RAM configurations as well.

I hadn’t thought of that! I’ll try it out and see.
