Experiencing Issues With October Updates on Workstations?

I've been dealing with some frustrating issues after the recent October updates. About 5% of my fleet of Windows machines are failing to apply the updates, rolling back after rebooting and returning me to the login screen without any updates installed. I've even tried using a USB stick to perform a manual update using Windows 11 25H2, but after two hours it also failed and returned to the login screen.

I've already run DISM and SFC, but that hasn't helped either. I was wondering if anyone else is facing similar problems, as I thought it might not just be me having a tough time. The usual Patch Tuesday megathread doesn't seem to show any reports on this, so I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has advice or experiences to share.

I'm rolling out the updates this weekend on my machines. I’ll let you know how it goes once I try it on Monday!

How old is your OS installation? I’ve noticed that devices upgraded from 22H2 to 23H2 tend to have issues with updates.

I had major problems with updates on my 24H2 Dell machines. Even a clean install didn’t complete updates during the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE). Really frustrating!

I've found that this problem can happen with devices upgraded from Windows 8. You might want to check your registry key: `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionWINEVTPublishers{53e3d721-2aa0-4743-b2db-299d872b8e3d}` and consider deleting it. You can also use a .reg file that fixes it automatically.
