Hey everyone, I've run into a strange performance problem that started after I replaced my SSD and did a fresh reset of Windows 11. I'm looking for some help to identify what's throttling my system before I consider taking it to Microcenter.
Initially, I was dealing with mouse stuttering and my old Samsung 970 SSD was performing at a fraction of its rated speed. I swapped it for a Samsung 990 Pro 1TB and reset Windows fully. While the mouse lag is gone now, my overall system performance has plummeted.
Here's what I'm dealing with:
- **NovaBench Results:** My CPU is scoring 3010 and the GPU only 275, both way below normal benchmarks.
- **Gaming Performance:** I'm struggling to reach 80 FPS in the *Marvel Rivals* stress test.
- **System Stuttering:** Running any other app like YouTube while gaming causes severe stuttering, sometimes requiring a full restart.
- **Drivers:** I have reinstalled all the necessary drivers.
**Specs:**
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D
- **Motherboard:** MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI (AM5)
- **RAM:** 64GB Dual-Channel DDR5 @ 2400MHz
- **GPU:** MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- **Storage:** 1TB Samsung SSD 990 PRO (OS) + 1TB Samsung SSD 870 QVO (SATA)
- **OS:** Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
- **Display Setup:** 3 monitors
**Red Flags I'm Noticing:**
1. The RAM is showing as 2400MHz, which seems low for DDR5 on a Ryzen 7000.
2. A GPU score of 275 is essentially at the level of integrated graphics.
I appreciate any guidance you can offer!

First thing you should try is enabling EXPO in the BIOS. Also, make sure your monitor is connected to your GPU and not the motherboard. It might sound trivial, but this can often be the culprit.
Great idea to start with flashing the BIOS! Look up your motherboard model for instructions. After that, enable EXPO in the BIOS—there are plenty of tutorials if you get stuck. Don't forget to enable Resizable BAR if your motherboard supports it.
You might want to reflash your BIOS and update your SSD firmware to the latest version. Also, enable the native NVMe driver from Microsoft using PowerShell and set your RAM speed to 6000 MHz; you should see improvements after that.
