Experiencing PC Stuttering in Multiple Games – Seeking Solutions

I'm dealing with stuttering issues across almost all games on my PC, and I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Here are the specs I'm working with:

- GPU: Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
- RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16
- Storage: All games are installed on SSDs

I've checked and none of the hardware is overheating, the cooling setup is solid, and my power supply is properly rated for my components. For instance, I encounter stuttering in games like ARC Raiders, even when I cap the FPS. I know my CPU might not be the best for demanding titles (an X3D CPU would be ideal), but it shouldn't drop from 90 FPS to 40 FPS!

Another case in point is God of War (2018), where the game becomes nearly unplayable as it regularly drops from around 120 FPS, leading to significant stuttering. After researching this issue extensively, I suspect it could be a problem with software settings or configurations. Any tips or insights from those who have faced similar issues would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to reinstall the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard, and do a clean installation of your GPU drivers with the 'Perform Clean Installation' option. I’ve used the Ryzen 5600X for years without any stuttering, so it’s unlikely related to your CPU. You might also want to run a diagnostic on your SSD, as stuttering often occurs when games load assets.

Double-check that you properly uninstalled your old drivers and installed the latest versions for everything. If you’re still having issues, there might be a BIOS or RAM problem. I also suggest reseating your RAM just to be safe!

Have you checked if XMP/EXPO is enabled in your BIOS? That could impact RAM performance significantly.

It might help to get a bit more background. When exactly did the stuttering start for you? Were there any changes made to your hardware that coincided with the issues?

I switched from a GTX 1050 Ti, and though it was outdated, I didn’t experience stuttering beforehand, just lower FPS. The issues started after I upgraded my RAM and CPU.

Sometimes, stuttering can be traced back to outdated audio drivers or network adapter drivers. Windows can install versions that aren’t the latest. Since you mentioned not doing a fresh Windows install after your upgrades, considering one might help resolve this.
