Experiencing Soft Freezes After GPU Driver Update – Need Advice

Hey everyone! I recently updated my GPU drivers on the 18th when the new version was released, and everything was fine until today. I've started experiencing these annoying soft freezes. My mouse still moves, and the apps are somewhat responsive, but everything runs super slowly. I can tell it's a GPU-related issue because when I use Ctrl + Win + Shift + B, it restarts the GPU and temporarily resolves the freezing, but it comes back about an hour later. There aren't any artifacts, system temperatures are normal, and nothing unusual shows up in the event viewer during the freezes. I've checked for viruses and performed SFC scans with no issues. Will rolling back the drivers help, or could this indicate a failing graphics card?

You might want to consider updating your motherboard's BIOS. Sometimes, an outdated BIOS can lead to compatibility issues that might cause weird symptoms with GPUs. It's been two years since you've built your PC, so it's definitely worth checking out!

Do you really think an old BIOS could cause these issues? I'll start with updating it since I haven't done that in forever!

If the only change was the driver update, it's likely that the new driver has a bug or compatibility issue. Downgrading to the previous version might solve your problems for now while they work out the kinks in the new release. Just make sure to keep an eye out for any further updates too!
