Experiencing Stuttering in Games—Could a New GPU Help?

I'm running into some frustrating stuttering issues while playing games, especially in Cyberpunk at medium settings. The game is installed on my HDD, and I've recently upgraded several components: I added a new power supply, a refurbished Powercolor 7900 XTX GPU, and a new case to pair with my older setup. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800X, I have 32GB of Corsair RAM at 3200MHz, and my motherboard is a Gigabyte A520M K V2. I'm using an 850W Gold Corsair PSU, which is only 6 months old. Although my HDD is about 6 years old, I also have an NVMe M.2 drive that's 2 years old. UserBenchmark suggests that my drives are in poor condition, even though Windows doesn't seem to agree. I tested both drives with DiskMark, and they both showed speeds of around 500MB/s. I've also tried removing AMD Adrenalin and reinstalling the drivers after performing a reset in Windows 11 when I added the new parts. Any advice on what might be causing this stuttering?

I noticed you said your games are on the HDD. Is that correct? A lot of times, NVMe drives perform much better than HDDs, so if you're getting equal speeds, there might be an issue. I suggest running FurMark to test your GPU and Cinebench for your CPU. Compare your scores online to make sure everything is performing as expected. If everything checks out, then it could be a disk issue since your NVMe should outperform your HDD.

The GPU checks out fine, but I found my CPU's Cinebench results were lower than expected—656 points for multi-thread and 61 for single core.

I'm confused about how the NVMe and HDD showed the same read/write speeds during the test. The M.2 drive is just for Windows, while everything else is on my HDD.

Just a heads up! Even if you see both drives at around 500MB/s, it doesn't mean it's fast enough for loading textures without stuttering. Moving Cyberpunk to the SSD might help improve performance a lot.

Yes, using an HDD might only slow down load times at the beginning of the game. Once you're actually playing, there usually isn't much difference—unless there are loading screens.

Have you used the factory reset mode while reinstalling AMD Adrenalin? Sometimes leftover files from the old drivers can linger around and cause issues. It might be helpful to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to clean everything up before reinstalling Adrenalin again.

Are you referring to the AMD cleanup utility for that?
