Exploring New Career Paths Beyond Full-Stack Development

I've been working as a .NET developer for over five years and have about a year of experience with Angular. I'm considering a career change as I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about the potential impacts of AI and recent news about layoffs. What other tech paths might be a good fit for someone with my experience? Would transitioning to machine learning or data engineering be challenging with my current skill set?

Have you thought about embedded systems? It could require a lot of learning, but it seems to be a more 'AI-proof' area. Plus, it could enhance your overall skills as a developer, regardless of whether you fully transition to that field.

With your experience in .NET and Angular, there are definitely good options for you. You could pivot towards backend development or focus on cloud-based roles like DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a solution architect, especially if you delve into Azure. While machine learning is possible, you'd have to dive deep into Python, mathematics, and ML fundamentals, which can feel like starting from scratch. Plus, the job market can be tough right now.
