I've got an old Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 sitting around, and I'm excited to dive into Linux. However, I'm torn between two choices: Fedora with KDE Plasma or Linux Mint. I've heard that KDE Plasma can be a bit resource-heavy, and I'm worried that my older laptop might struggle with it. Should I go for Fedora or stick with Linux Mint? Will I encounter any performance issues?

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either option! Fedora is quite user-friendly, despite some claims about its difficulty. I found it easy to get started without having to adjust any settings or mess around in the terminal at all. It's straightforward and everything just works right out of the box!
You might want to download the ISO and try a live session first before committing to an install. I personally prefer Fedora over Mint, but it really comes down to personal taste. Check out some options on the Linux download page for the latest versions to test them out!
I've been using Fedora KDE on an older laptop with 8GB RAM and a six-year-old CPU, and it runs just fine! I did have some installation hiccups with Cinnamon in the past, but Fedora has been my go-to for three years now and I absolutely love it. If you're considering it, I say go for it!
What makes you say Fedora is better than Mint? I’m really interested to hear your take!
