Hey everyone, I've just picked up a 9060XT GPU on sale, but it feels like I'm not getting the most out of it because my CPU is a Ryzen 5 3400G. My setup is as follows: B450 Mortar Max motherboard, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and an old Corsair VS650 power supply that's about six years old. I'm considering upgrading my PSU first since it's getting old, and then possibly moving to a Ryzen 7 5700X for better performance. Some folks are suggesting I should also change my motherboard and RAM to really unlock the GPU's potential, but I'm on a budget. What do you guys think? Is it worth upgrading to the 5700X, or is there a better approach?

If you can find a used Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X for around $80-90, I’d go for that instead. Just make sure to update your BIOS before swapping CPUs. Your PSU should be fine as long as it’s still working properly. With those upgrades, your system should handle any current game without issues.
Going for the Ryzen 7 5700X is a solid choice to pair with the 9060XT. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to update the BIOS with your current 3400G before making the switch, otherwise the 5700X won't boot.
Upgrading to the 5700X would definitely be beneficial. Don’t forget to flash the BIOS first while your 3400G is still installed, or you might run into boot issues. After that, your setup should deliver the performance you’re looking for.
