Feeling Overwhelmed About Learning to Code as a Teen

Hey everyone! I'm 14 and I've been creating some cool games on Scratch for a few years now. However, I'm eager to dive into text-based coding and make 3D games. The problem is that every programming tool I find feels way too complex for me, and I get really anxious just looking at it. Scratch has been great with its simple tutorials, but I can't find any tools like PlayCanvas or GDevelop that actually teach coding concepts instead of just telling me to copy-paste. I feel like I'm on a deadline to learn programming, and it scares me that I might never get there. I'm hoping for suggestions on user-friendly software that actually teaches coding!

Don't stress about falling behind; you're actually ahead of the curve! I started learning programming just before applying to university and ended up as a software engineer. Just focus on enjoying the learning process!

Have you thought about starting with something like Python? It's great for making simple 2D games using libraries like Pygame. Plus, once you get the hang of that, transitioning to 3D game engines will be much smoother!

Don't worry, you're not running out of time! At 14, you've already achieved more than many. Just remember that people of all ages succeed in learning to code. Some of my cousins started programming in their teens and were fine. You've got plenty of time to get into it!

That makes me feel a bit better! I just thought I was behind because I've avoided scripting for so long.

You're going to be just fine learning programming. Just keep in mind, having great ideas is one thing, but developing a solid game takes time and experience. It’s a journey, so start today and manage your expectations. Good luck!
