Feeling Overwhelmed and Doubtful About My Programming Skills, What Should I Do?

I've been learning C with a tutor since last April, and while I've made significant progress compared to my previous self-teaching, I'm currently feeling stuck. Even though I can solve problems conceptually, I struggle to translate that into working code, which is really frustrating. My tutor is applying more pressure, which only adds to my stress, and I've been questioning whether I really know anything about math or programming at all. With college application deadlines approaching, I'm starting to doubt if pursuing a CS degree is the right path for me. I'm not sure how to overcome this slump and regain my confidence.

I totally get it! Can you share a specific problem that you feel stuck on? Like, is there a situation where you can solve it on paper but struggle with coding it? Sometimes pinpointing one little aspect can really help you break things down and tackle it step by step.

It sounds like you're going through a tough time, but you're definitely not alone! It’s so common to hit a wall where the theory makes sense, but the application feels impossible. Honestly, it seems like you might be experiencing a mix of impostor syndrome and a bit of burnout. Instead of pushing harder, consider stepping back and revisiting some basic problems. This can help rebuild your confidence. Switching languages for a while might also be refreshing! Remember, just because you're in a rough patch doesn’t mean you can’t succeed in the long run.

When you realized you needed more math skills, did you just go online to vent? It’s understandable to seek advice, but sometimes it pays to take action instead. Have you tried looking into resources or tutorials to boost your math skills? It might help you feel more prepared!
