Fixing SMTP Connection Errors When Scanning to Google Email with Sharp BP-70C31 Printer

I'm having trouble scanning to my Google email with my Sharp BP-70C31 printer. It was working fine before, but now I'm getting an ERROR[3332]: Connection to SMTP server test failed. I've checked the username and password multiple times, and they are correct. I'm using a Gsuite account with smtp.gmail.com. Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve this issue?

From what I understand, Google is now requiring OAuth or App Passwords for email authentication as of May 1st. The usual username and password might not work anymore. You should look into setting that up to regain access.

It sounds like Google may have made some changes that are affecting your setup. I faced a similar issue with a different application. You might want to check out Google's support page on SMTP settings and consider updating the SPF record for your public IP too, depending on how your network is configured.

If you're not sure how to set up the App Passwords in Google Workspace, you can find it under Security settings for the user account. Just make sure 2-Step Verification is turned on for the account first.
