Hey everyone, I'm trying to make the switch from Windows to Linux, but it's been a rough journey so far that's making me feel like giving up. I started with Linux Mint, but I couldn't get some of my games to run, which was really frustrating. Then I switched to Garuda, and I got stuck on the login screen after installation; it was a mess. I tried entering my password, but it wouldn't let me access anything. Feeling defeated, I then turned to Arch Linux with KDE, and while I managed to set up most things quickly, the next day when I logged back in, everything was missing—no taskbar, no file explorer, just a wallpaper. Now, I've given Cachy OS KDE a shot, but right after I set everything up, the system froze and went black. I had to turn off my computer and when I logged in again, it was back to square one. It's really tiring! I'm currently using an external NVME to test things, but why does it keep breaking after installing just Steam and VLC? If anyone has any advice or could explain why I'm having such bad luck, I'd appreciate it!

Honestly, if Mint worked better for you, maybe just stick with it? Or if you're open to it, you could also consider investing in a Mac if all this troubleshooting is proving too much.
It sounds like there’s a deeper issue at play here. When you say everything is 'gone', what exactly does that mean? Are your apps disappearing, or is it just the interface that’s resetting?
Have you checked your disk health? It’s possible that your drive might be failing, which could explain all these crashes and weird behavior.
It's brand new! I just got it 5 days ago. I hope it's not failing, but it does sound like a possibility.

Gone means all my apps disappear, the taskbar is empty, and I can't run anything. Basically, it resets to the default wallpaper with all my customizations lost.
