Galaxy A35 Won’t Connect to PC After Update – Any Fixes?

Hey everyone! I recently installed a system update on my Samsung Galaxy A35 and now my phone won't connect to my PC via USB. It used to be super easy; I would just plug it in and it would immediately show up. But now, when I connect it, nothing happens at all. I've tried a bunch of things already:

- Different USB-C cables (both original and third-party)
- Using different USB ports and even tried another PC
- Enabling USB debugging in Developer Options
- Setting the Default USB Configuration to "File Transfer"
- Resetting app preferences
- Resetting all settings, but not a factory reset
- Installing Samsung USB drivers and trying Samsung Smart Switch
- Restarting both the phone and the PC multiple times

The phone charges fine, but I can't access any files or see any USB options on my phone anymore. Has anyone else run into this issue after the update? I'm hoping for a workaround that doesn't involve a full factory reset!

Another thing to try is switching the USB mode to "USB Tethering" on your phone. If the PC doesn’t recognize it, maybe test it on a different computer. It’s also a good idea to check that your USB-C port isn’t damaged. If it's definitely a software issue, you might need to consider flashing an older firmware version using Odin and the Samsung USB drivers, though be careful as some updates prevent downgrading.

Exactly! I've used the cable with other devices, and it works perfectly, so I’m pretty sure my PC isn’t the issue either.

Yeah, I regret updating because it completely changed the interface. I seriously don’t get why they did that! I know it’s a software glitch since my cable works fine with a different phone, and I've already tested it on another PC too.

Here are a couple more things to check: Make sure USB Debugging is enabled by going to Settings > About Phone and tapping on Build Number seven times. Then go to Settings > Developer Options and double-check USB debugging is on. Also, verify that USB notifications are enabled by going to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > USB Settings and ensuring notifications are allowed.

Thanks! I did enable USB debugging already. But when I checked the notifications, there were no USB notifications showing up at all.

It sounds frustrating! Try swiping down from the top of your phone when it's connected to see if you need to grant permission. Many newer phones default to "charge only" for security reasons until you change that setting. Also, make sure your phone is unlocked when you connect it; it usually needs to be in that state to show up on your PC.

I noticed that the notification doesn’t even show up anymore. Before the update, it connected automatically as soon as I plugged it in—no prompts needed. Now, nothing happens at all.
