Getting Random Crashes After Upgrading to Ryzen CPU

I recently upgraded my system with a new Ryzen 5700X CPU and motherboard. Previously, I was using an Intel 10400F setup. Since the change, I'm encountering random crashes, and the event viewer indicates a fatal error triggered by a CPU core. My brother works in tech and mentioned that this error could be caused by several components, but I'm a bit skeptical. My setup includes a 650W power supply and a GTX 1660 graphics card. I didn't reinstall Windows after the hardware swap, so I'm wondering if the system is trying to use Intel software on Ryzen hardware. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely consider reinstalling Windows. When you change the motherboard, especially from Intel to AMD, the operating system needs a new set of drivers to function properly. What you're experiencing sounds like classic driver conflict issues, so a fresh installation could really help clear those up.

Did you reinstall Windows, or are you just using the old drive? It's really recommended to do a fresh install with a new motherboard because the drivers vary a lot, especially switching from Intel to AMD. You could be having crashes due to old drivers not playing well with your new setup.

I just swapped the hardware and booted up with my old Windows 10 installation.

Have you updated your BIOS and chipset drivers yet? That's usually the first step when changing motherboards. If those aren't up to date, it can lead to instability, especially with a major change like moving from Intel to AMD.

I checked and I don't think I updated either of those.
