Hey everyone, I'm considering upgrading my CPU but I'm not interested in switching to DDR5 due to skyrocketing prices. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 5700X, ASUS TUF X570 motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM, and a 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. I'm thinking about moving to an Intel i9 13900KF with an Aorus Z790 motherboard while keeping my RAM and GPU the same. Is this a good idea?

If you’re mainly gaming, the performance boost from upgrading to the i9 might not justify the cost, especially since you'd still be using the same RAM and GPU. The gains won't be huge, and it could lead to more hassle than benefits.

I'm mostly gaming and streaming, playing titles like CS2 and Assetto Corsa. Would that change your mind on the upgrade?

Honestly, if you're gaming, you might want to reconsider. The 5700X is solid for that. If you're looking for more cores for productivity, go ahead, but keep in mind the potential for thermal issues with the 13th gen.

I'm focused on gaming and streaming. The big upcoming games have me wondering if I'd benefit.

If you can find the 5800X3D, it probably performs similarly for your gaming needs. It's a more sensible upgrade without the hassle of changing platforms right now.

I wish I could find it, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere.

I wouldn’t really call this an upgrade. If you're going to invest, maybe look at getting a Ryzen 7 5800X3D or even a Ryzen 5 14600KF. They provide solid performance without needing to switch to DDR5. Your current DDR4 setup still performs well enough.

I've been trying to find a 5800X3D, but it's tough to locate it!

Switching from AMD to Intel might not be the best move right now. The gains might not be worth the additional costs, especially since the i9 runs hotter and takes more power.

I'm only not switching to DDR5 because of the price issue!
