Getting Started with Ricing on Debian

I'm really interested in ricing my setup and want to stick with Debian, but I've heard that most people do this using Arch Linux. Are there any limitations I should be aware of when using Debian for ricing? Also, can anyone point me towards a good resource for learning how to rice my system? Thanks!

If you're aiming for easy customization, Arch definitely makes things simpler. With Debian, you might have to do a bit more digging instead of just following a guide. Also, note that some features like Hyprland may not be available on Debian right out of the box, so keep that in mind.

One great way to start ricing is to set up a virtual machine using KDE Plasma. It's designed to be super customizable, and you can easily tweak the settings in edit mode to get your ideal look!

Your ability to rice really depends on the desktop environment you're using, not the distro itself. XFCE is one of the more customizable environments, while Gnome is less flexible. If you're using a window manager, you can go all out with ricing your setup!

Just so you know, when people talk about ricing these days, they often refer to the Hyprland environment based on the Wayland protocol. Keep in mind that Debian might not support it natively, so you could face some limitations there.

For XFCE ricing specifically, there's this great GitHub resource: https://github.com/diws1/xfce-rice. It should give you some solid starting points for customization.
