Good Monitors Are Hard to Find – Any Recommendations?

I've been on the hunt for a 24" monitor with 1080p resolution, at least 200Hz refresh rate, and low response time/lag. However, every model I check seems to have terrible reviews. I've seen comments like 'Breaks after 2 months, do not buy', 'Response time is 15ms, what a scam', and even 'Makes a loud noise after 5 minutes of use.' Is there any monitor out there that meets these specs and is actually worth it? Or should I just settle for a 27" or 1440p monitor instead?

It sounds like you might be looking at some sketchy brands. A lot of those horror stories come from generic fast-branded monitors. What specific models are you considering? I’ve had pretty solid luck with the ones I own, and they’ve been running without any issues even at high brightness settings.

That's really good to hear! I've also had great experiences with some mainstream brands, so I'm surprised to hear such negative reviews.

Most of the well-known monitor brands are moving into OLED territory, which often means 27" 1440p 240Hz minimum specs. This leaves the entry-level market pretty sparse, and the ones that are available are usually from lesser-known brands. You might stumble across some hidden gems—just be prepared to gamble a bit with the quality!

Check out this link I found: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=192001080&D=220000,600000&sort=price&page=1. It lists several monitors from reputable brands. Just keep in mind that customer reviews can be hit or miss, so I'd recommend looking at detailed reviews on sites like Rtings or TFTCentral.

Thanks for the link! I’m considering the Odyssey G40B FHD; it’s looking really good right now!

Honestly, 1080p is becoming the entry level, so many people are now shifting to either 1440p or 4K. You might get better results looking for a used premium 1080p monitor instead of new models that seem to be poorly made.
