I'm curious if anyone else has been facing issues lately with forced restarts during this month's patch Tuesday. We have set up Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to prevent users from being automatically rebooted while logged in after a Windows Update installation, and this has reliably worked for years. However, starting from yesterday, both servers and PCs in our domain began showing pop-up messages indicating that a restart is necessary. If a user is away from their desk and doesn't dismiss the pop-up in a few minutes, their computer restarts automatically. The Event Viewer shows this as two entries, indicating that different processes initiated the restart on behalf of the system.
I'm trying to gauge if this is a widespread issue or something specific to our setup. I've already checked to ensure our GPOs are applied correctly, but it appears many others have encountered this problem over the years without a clear root cause. This situation is a bit anxiety-inducing, especially with another patch Tuesday around the corner!

I thought this was just me! Both my laptop and workstation VM had the same thing happen this week. Makes you wonder what's going on with these updates!
I haven’t found a single computer in our domain that didn't experience this issue, while other domains in the same forest seem unaffected.

I had two users complain about this too, and one of them I witnessed first-hand. I initially assumed it was our patch management software doing this.
