I'm currently facing a situation where we have both a parent domain and its subdomain under the same Azure tenant. Management has decided that we need to create a separate Azure tenant for the subdomain. I'm looking for any experiences or advice on moving a child domain to a new tenant. When you say 'domain', are you referring to the DNS domain? It's essentially just a DNS Zone resource in Azure, so it should be pretty straightforward. But I wouldn't suggest creating a whole new tenant just for that.
Make sure to set up a separate DNS Zone for your subdomain in your DNS management system. You should treat it like a new domain. The process for verifying the subdomain in the new tenant should be the same as usual, but honestly, try to avoid going with two tenants if you can; it can lead to double the work!

If my parent domain is contoso.com and I have a subdomain like subdomain.contoso.com in the current tenant, can I create something like subdomain2.contoso.com in the new tenant? I realy want to avoid the nightmare of having to re-import thousands of users and their OneDrive data.
