Has Anyone Used a Virtual PKI Smart Card?

I'm dealing with a frustrating issue using a new laptop that keeps disconnecting every hour. Since I need to keep it online for testing updates (24H2 and 25H2 GPOs), I'm exploring whether I can load a PKI smart card into a virtual card reader. I know I can't clone my existing smart card, but I was wondering if anyone has successfully done this by requesting a new PKI for use in a virtual device. Any advice would be appreciated!

You can actually use a YubiKey for smartcard functions, but I'm not sure if that would be a fit for your situation. It might help as a backup, but I think you’re looking for something more integrated.

Yeah, I have a bunch of YubiKey 5s too, but I'd prefer a virtual solution since Cisco AnyConnect can be a bit tricky with them.

Have you looked into virtual smart cards? They can be a good alternative. Microsoft has some resources that might guide you on how to get started with them. Check it out!
