Has My Samsung TV Been Hacked? Need Help Identifying This Issue

I have a Samsung Smart TV, model UN65NU8000, and I noticed something really strange while using the ESPN app. After about an hour, a blue screen with some odd messages appeared. The text seemed like a static image rather than a typical error message, which freaked me out a bit. After taking screenshots of the strange message, I turned off the TV and my internet. When I turned the TV back on, the odd screen didn't show up again. I also tried running a Samsung Security scan, but it froze at 81%. Then, when I tried to reset the TV to factory settings, I couldn't access the virtual keyboard to enter the required 4 digit PIN. It's frustrating! I wish I could upload a picture of the blue screen, but I can't attach files here. If I should be asking this somewhere else, please let me know. Thanks!

I came across a similar issue recently. I suggest taking a screenshot and sharing it appropriately for better assistance. Those messages could provide a clue about whether someone is messing with your TV.

Those phrases like 'AROUND THE WORLD patch. Secure? Sure.' sound really odd for a TV interface. It could be malware attempting to run on your device. Keep your eyes peeled for any unusual behavior and consider performing a factory reset or a hard reboot if you can manage the PIN issue. Also, see if there are updates for the TV's software.

I wish your post got more traction, as this sounds like a serious issue! Have you tried reaching out to Samsung directly? They might have some solutions for you.

It’s worth checking for any crash logs, even though this isn't Windows. You might want to look into any settings or logs the TV has related to security. Also, those messages you saw sound suspicious—if they mention things like bitcoin, that’s definitely a red flag!
