Having Trouble Burning CDs – Need Help!

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some assistance with burning CDs. I recently bought an external CD burner since my PC doesn't have one, but I keep getting error messages. These messages say that the files might be of poor quality or not compatible, and it also mentioned updating drivers. I tried updating what I thought needed it, specifically the Nvidia drivers, but I'm not sure if that was the right move. I've also tried several software programs and the basic media players already on my computer, but nothing has worked. Once, I thought I succeeded, but when I tried to play the CD, it didn't work at all. If I try again, I can post pictures of the errors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

CDBurnerXP was my go-to for ages! I haven't burned a CD in forever, but if you're looking for software, it could be a solid choice.

I’m having flashbacks to the 90s! Seems like everyone is diving back into CD burning.

What do you mean by burning a CD? If you're just storing data, that could be part of the issue if the files aren't formatted the way the burner expects, especially if you're trying to create audio CDs or bootable discs. Let me know what your goal is and I might be able to give more targeted advice!

That's not 100% clear. It’s possible the issue is because the burner thinks you’re trying to do something more complicated. If you just want it as a storage medium, clarify it and that might resolve the problems!

Hey! First off, Nvidia drivers are for graphics, not for your CD burner. You’ll want to get the specific drivers for your external CD burner instead. Also, it might help to clarify whether you’re burning a CD or a DVD, and what type of content you’re trying to burn—data, audio, or video. Knowing this information can help narrow down the troubleshooting steps!

I’m with you—still burning CDs! I use an old program called Ashampoo Burning Studio. It works just fine for me. Maybe give it a shot if you haven't yet!
