I've been using iOS for a while now, and my mum and I share our locations through the Find My app without a hitch. However, I'm having a tough time getting my dad's new iPhone 15 to share his location. I've double-checked all the local settings and confirmed that the device is fully updated. One possible issue I can think of is that he doesn't have any kind of lock on his phone — no Face ID or passcode. He's quite adamant about it since he doesn't use many features like email or Apple Wallet. Could his lack of a security lock be causing this problem, or am I missing something?

You should still be able to use Find My without a passcode. Have you tried signing out of iCloud and then signing back in? Also, turning off and on the Find My and location services, and restarting the phone might help. I had a similar problem years ago, and one of those steps fixed it for me.
I tried signing out and back in, but it didn't work. I even wiped and restored the phone and set a passcode, but it just keeps spinning until it times out.

I’ve done everything you mentioned except logging out of iCloud. I’ll try that next!
