HDMI Connection Causes BSOD While DP Works Fine—Any Fixes?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my setup involving a 5070Ti GPU. The DisplayPort connection is working great with my monitor, but when I connect my Denon X3800 receiver via HDMI to my TV, it leads to a blue screen of death (BSOD). I've been experiencing intermittent screen flickering and eventually a complete blackout, and my computer reboots after a few minutes with the BSOD error code 0x00000133, which suggests driver problems.

I've tried uninstalling the GPU drivers and running various troubleshooting commands, but I'm unsure if it's a hardware issue or if a Windows reinstall might solve the problem. Also, I'm curious why the BSOD only happens with the HDMI connection. I uploaded some minidump files hoping someone can analyze them for a more precise diagnosis.

Has anyone tackled a similar issue or have any suggestions before I take the plunge and reinstall Windows?

It sounds like a driver issue, especially since the BSOD code points towards that. Not many problems arise from HDMI outputs themselves, but I've seen Nvidia drivers cause crashes under specific conditions. Sometimes, connected devices can also play a part—like any integrated GPU outputs if you're using any. I'd recommend checking if you have the latest GPU drivers installed or even rolling back to a previous version if you recently updated.
Also, ensure there are no other devices connected to the HDMI that could interfere with the signal. That might help reduce the BSOD occurrences.

If you're still fighting BSODs, it might be more than just drivers. Have you checked for any firmware updates for your Denon receiver? Sometimes devices like AV receivers need a firmware update to better handle incoming signals from PCs. It's worth a shot before resorting to a full Windows reinstall.

I had a similar issue, and after troubleshooting a lot, it turned out to be an HDMI cable issue! Changing to a different, high-quality HDMI cable resolved all my BSOD problems. If you haven't already, I’d suggest trying a new cable just in case. Sometimes it's the simplest fixes that do the trick.
