I've recently set up my first desktop and monitor, but I've run into a frustrating issue while trying to share the display with my drawing tablet (XP-Pen 10, 2nd generation). I bought a dual HDMI splitter, but it only works properly if I plug the tablet's HDMI into the splitter first and then connect the monitor. If I do it the other way around—monitor first—nothing shows up on either screen. On top of that, if my PC goes to sleep for too long, I have to unplug everything and redo the whole process to get a display again. This is incredibly tedious! I'm hoping to find a better solution that doesn't require this hassle every time. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I think buying a USB C to HDMI hub could be your best bet. It’s the simplest way to bypass the splitter issues. Splitters can be pretty unreliable, and it sounds like your tablet would work better as a separate display anyway. Plus, it should give you a more stable connection overall!
Exactly! Adapters can make life so much simpler. I had a similar setup and switching to a hub solved all my problems!
Have you tried adjusting the display settings in Windows? Right-click on your desktop, select 'Display settings' when both screens are connected. You can also use the shortcut Windows Key + P to switch between display modes like extend or duplicate. If nothing shows up, try opening this menu before connecting the devices; it might help get them recognized correctly. And don’t forget to update any drivers or software for your drawing tablet if there are updates available!
Totally agree with you on the updates! It’s always worth checking for the most recent drivers for a smooth experience.
Thanks for the tips! I'll try messing with those settings and see if that helps.

Great point! Splitters can really be a hassle. I think you’ll find the hub to be a much smoother option.
