I recently installed an update on my system, and now I'm only able to access the command line interface. Before the update, everything was working fine, but now it seems like the sssd.config file is missing. I'm unsure how to proceed with configuring it or if I even need it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're just using this laptop as a single-user device without LDAP for authentication, you might not actually need sssd at all. I'd suggest checking your /etc/nsswitch.conf file—if you see any ldap or sssd entries there, you can probably remove them without any issues.
Could you share a bit more information? What distribution are you using, what hardware do you have, and what update did you install? These details could help in identifying the problem more clearly.
Not sure how the hardware relates to this, but I'm curious! Can you explain?

I updated to Kicksecure 18 and my laptop is an HP, but I need to check the exact model.
