Help! AltGr Key Isn’t Working for Special Characters on My Keyboard

Hey everyone! I recently switched to using Bazzite on my gaming PC and it's been a smooth transition except for one issue. I'm using a German ISO keyboard layout on my CandyKeys ND75, which should allow me to type special characters like @ and [] using the AltGr (or Alt + Ctrl) key combination. However, it seems that while my system recognizes the general Alt and Ctrl keys, it doesn't register the AltGr function needed for those special symbols. I've tried switching the language settings multiple times and adjusting the keyboard layout options between 104 and 86 keys. I've also fiddled with the Alt and Windows key settings, but nothing has worked. I'd really appreciate any help because fixing this is the last thing I need to start using Bazzite full-time. Thanks!

Always remember to include details like your distro, hardware specs, and any error messages when asking for help with technical issues! It really helps others assist you better.

Have you tried using a different keymap? Sometimes a simple tweak like that can fix weird issues like this.

I think it’s called second level characters. Have you checked if you can change that in the Tweaks app?

Oh! I didn’t know that was the name for it. I actually set the left Alt key to access the third level, and it works! Unfortunately, the right Ctrl key doesn’t register for me, but I’m glad left Alt does the trick now!
