Hey folks,
I recently performed a fresh installation of Windows on my Samsung Galaxy Book 4, and while I can see BitLocker in the settings, I can't seem to turn it on or finish the encryption process. I'm looking for a solution to fix this issue without losing any of my files.
Here's what I've already checked:
- TPM is enabled in the BIOS
- Windows is fully updated
- Storage type is [SSD/HDD]
For your reference, my device details are:
- Model: Samsung Galaxy Book 4
- Windows version: [e.g., Windows 11 Home 23H2]
- TPM version: [if known]
Has anyone experienced this issue? Any steps to activate BitLocker safely without wiping my data would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

It looks like you're running into a common issue. If your Galaxy Book 4 is using Windows 11 Home, that's likely the problem—Home only supports "Device Encryption" instead of the full BitLocker option. The UI shows up, but you can't enable it unless you upgrade to Windows 11 Pro.
If you have Windows 11 Pro, make sure of the following:
- Secure Boot is enabled
- Your drive is formatted as GPT—BitLocker won't work with MBR
- TPM settings must be cleared in the BIOS so Windows can generate new keys
- Ensure your Samsung firmware and drivers are updated to the latest version.
If upgrading isn't an option, you might need to rely on Device Encryption instead.

I really need access to my laptop urgently, but I have Windows 11 Home. Is there any alternative I can use?
