I recently transferred my SSD to a new computer after my old one failed. The new build uses my old components, but I can't seem to find my desktop files anywhere. I've searched for specific filenames and gone through my user files without success. I didn't use OneDrive or any other cloud backup, and I've already tried revealing hidden files and folders. I'm really stressed about this and would love any advice on how to locate my files!

If your old PC isn’t bootable, you may not have access to those files. You should ensure you’ve selected the right drive to boot from, but if they were lost during the OS installation, that could be a problem too.
It's possible that your files were backed up to OneDrive if you were signed in with a Microsoft account. Try signing into OneDrive and see if your files are there. Even if you didn't set up auto backup, they might still be accessible if you were logged in.
It sounds like the shop might have wiped your drive when they reinstalled the OS. You could ask them if they saved your old files, but in the future, consider keeping important files on a separate drive from the OS to avoid losing them during upgrades.
Have you talked to the technician at the shop yet? They might have backed up your files, or if they reformatted the drive during the installation of the operating system, that could explain the missing files.
Check inside the C:Users folder. Sometimes, a new user profile is created when switching systems, and your files might be stored under a different username. Look for folders named after other accounts.
