Help! Can’t Get Windows 11 to See My Hard Drive with Linux Installed

I'm trying to install Windows 11 on my Yoga Pro 9 (16IRP8), and I've set aside a 103GB partition for it. However, when I boot the Windows installer, the drive isn't visible at all. I used to have Windows on this machine before switching to Linux. I removed Kali Linux recently, just in case that could be causing issues. Could this be a BIOS-related problem? Any help would be appreciated!

If Windows isn’t detecting the drive, it could be a BIOS setting issue. Make sure that your BIOS is set to AHCI mode and not something else like RAID. Check if the drive appears in the BIOS menu at all. Sometimes, if Linux is using the drive in a way Windows doesn't understand, it won't show up. You may need to wipe the drive if it’s still seeing it as a Linux partition.

Just a heads up, if you’re still in the installation process and not seeing the drive, that could be why it's not showing up. Make sure you’re using a compatible version of the Windows installer and you're booting from the live USB correctly. If you're saying it doesn't show at all, double your checks on the USB and try redownloading the Windows ISO. Good luck!

It sounds like your drive is formatted as a Linux file system, which Windows can't read by default. If it’s EXT4 or another Linux system, Windows won't see it unless you format it to NTFS or FAT32 first. Just remember, formatting will erase all data on that partition, so back up anything important before you proceed. Also, keep in mind that installing Windows will overwrite the GRUB bootloader, which you might want to fix afterwards.
