Help! Can’t Install NVIDIA Driver After Resetting My Laptop

I've been struggling to install the new NVIDIA GeForce driver on my laptop for six hours now. I have a Windows 11 system with an Intel Core i9-14900 HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, but after backdating my laptop to its original 2023 state in an attempt to fix what I thought was a virus, I've hit a wall with the driver updates. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting methods, including using the NVIDIA app, manual downloads, disabling my antivirus, and even booting into safe mode with DDU to remove the old drivers. However, even in safe mode, the installation fails. I've paused Windows updates to avoid issues. Does anyone have any advice?

It sounds like you've gone through a lot already! Since you reset your laptop to its original date, some drivers may have gone back too, which can mess with compatibility. Have you tried using the NVIDIA Clean Install option in the installation settings? It wipes previous driver files, which might help. Also, make sure your Windows updates are fully back on before trying the install again. Sometimes, drivers need the latest Windows updates to work correctly.

Resetting your laptop back to the factory state can sometimes lead to version mismatches. Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes updating the BIOS can help with driver installations. Also, double-check that your graphics card is properly seated in its slot, just to rule that out. Good luck!
