Hey everyone! I recently had my iPhone repaired due to a motherboard issue, and now I'm stuck because I can't log into my own Apple account. When I try, it asks for a verification code that's sent to my number, but I can't reach that part unless I'm already logged in.
To get around this, my mom allowed me to sign into her Apple ID so I could access my phone number. I did this by placing our phones next to each other for automatic sharing. We thought I could just sign out of her account after I got inside the phone, but now I need her Apple ID password to do that, and she doesn't remember it. We even tried the "Forgot Password" feature, but nothing happened.
I've also tried searching online for a way to sign out without the password and experimented with Screen Time settings, but it hasn't worked. I even got a message stating I can't sign out until November 5th due to some security restrictions.
I'd really like to resolve this sooner if possible. I can head back to the Apple Store if absolutely necessary, but it's a 45-minute drive, and I'd rather avoid it if there's another solution. Has anyone encountered this before? I'd appreciate any tips!

You might want to try changing your mom's Apple ID password directly from her iPhone. Go to Settings, tap her name, then Sign-In & Security, and choose Change Password. Once she resets the password, it should let you sign out of her account more easily.
Also, for future reference, if you ever can't sign into an Apple account during setup, set it up without signing in. That way, you can still access the phone features. If you need to restore from a backup later, just erase all content and settings before signing in.
Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate the help!
Why didn’t you set up the phone without an Apple ID from the start? It could have saved you a lot of trouble. If you’re in a jam, setting it up this way is always a good option if you can't access your number right away.

Just a heads up, if the phone number is active, it might auto-fill the verification code for you when you sign in. It usually works without issues. If it doesn't detect the SMS code, consider restoring the device as a last resort.
