Help Choosing Between Ryzen 9 9900X and 9950X for Game Design

I'm building a new PC for my studies in game design, 3D modeling, and animation, and I need your advice on which CPU to go with. I'm primarily using applications like Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Houdini, Unreal Engine, and more. I'm considering two CPUs: the Ryzen 9 9900X and the Ryzen 9 9950X, and I'm pairing it with an RTX 5080 and 64GB RAM (CL32).
The 9950X is known to be slightly better due to its additional cores, but I mistakenly purchased the 9900X for €410. To complicate things, new 9950Xs are hard to find under €500, and my budget is tight. Should I refund the 9900X and get a used 9950X, or stick with the 9900X since the differences might not be that significant? I'd also like to use it for gaming at 2K resolution.
Thanks for your understanding, and I apologize for any mistakes—English isn't my first language!

Honestly, the 9900X is a decent CPU for 3D modeling and gaming. Many tasks in 3D design lean more on the GPU, so you'll likely see good performance without immediately needing the extra cores from the 9950X. If you plan to do a lot of CPU-heavy tasks like rendering or simulations later on, you might consider the switch to the 9950X. But for now, the 9900X is perfectly capable, especially as you grow your skills.

For most 3D tasks, the 9900X should serve you well, especially since you're just starting school. While the 9950X has more cores and is better for CPU rendering, the price difference makes the 9900X a solid choice if you're under budget constraints. You might find that for your current use with programs like Maya and Substance Painter, the 9900X runs just fine. Also, 64GB of RAM is a nice touch even for someone who isn't heavily into rendering yet.
As for the GPU, the RTX 5080 is great, but if you're looking to save a bit, the 5070 Ti could also be a good option without losing too much performance. Your English is perfectly fine, no need to apologize!
