Help Choosing PC Components for Gaming

My friend is building a PC, and I'm helping him figure out a solid build for gaming without lag or tearing, though he's not focused on competitive gaming. We're currently torn between the RTX 4080 Super and the RTX 4090. If there are any better options out there, I'd love to hear about them. I've heard that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is great for these GPUs, so we're planning to go with that. We're also looking at the MSI B650 Tomahawk motherboard. What do you all think? Are there better choices we should consider or any potential issues we should be aware of?

It seems like you might need to update your picks. Both the RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4090 are from the last generation, and finding them might be a hassle since they're not being produced anymore. I’d suggest checking out the new Nvidia 50 series GPUs instead. Also, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is solid, consider the Ryzen 7 9800X3D; it performs better and isn't too much more expensive.

I'll dive into that now! I hadn't even thought about the 50 series, just assumed it would be overpriced, but I guess it’s worth a look.

Just a heads up, both the RTX 5000 series and RX 9000 series are great alternatives if you're considering upgrades. It looks like you may have overlooked these options, along with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

I didn't think about the 50 series due to potential costs. I’ll check those options out right now, thanks for the tip!
