Help! Deleted OneDrive and Lost Important Files—Any Recovery Solutions?

I messed up big time. I thought I was being savvy by moving 70 gigs of files from OneDrive to my secondary drive because my C drive was running low on space. After deleting OneDrive from the C drive, I discovered that all my important documents have vanished. I tried recovering them from OneDrive, but since I never paid for storage, everything's gone from there.

I attempted to use data recovery software, but instead of finding my main files, it only dug up old photos and lots of corrupted data. I checked my system backups and file history, but it looks like there are no backups at all, even though I normally have auto backups enabled. I thought for sure I created backups when I partitioned my drives and when I upped my RAM a few months back, yet there's no trace of them.

Could this mess be caused by the partitioning? Windows had a recent update right before I deleted OneDrive, and I'm praying there might be a system image I can access. Also, are there any third-party tools like Crucial or Corsair that might help? Help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're having a tough time! Just so you know, OneDrive typically keeps deleted files in its Recycle Bin for about 30 days. If it’s been less than that, check the OneDrive web interface; you might still have a shot at retrieving some of your files. But if you never synced because you were over the 5GB limit, those files might not be in there at all.

Unfortunately, I checked and the Recycle Bin is empty. I think those files never synced to the cloud in the first place!

You might want to consider reaching out to data recovery professionals if you can't find those files. They have the tools and expertise to possibly recover your lost data without causing more issues. Also, remember that trying to recover data without proper knowledge can sometimes make things worse, so be cautious!
